The wooden day May 22, 2009

I guess the traditional gift for a couple married five years is wood. Not very exciting, but I suppose it could take some nice forms, like cuckoo clocks, hand-carved miniature ships, etc.=) Anyway, DH and I have been married five years. I can hardly belive that much time has gone by. As in any marriage, we have our dramas, but pretty much, we are thrilled to be making this journey with each other. I think back to the weeks after we got married, when we received this little postcard with some strong words. Things such as:
- the reception was cheap
- the ceremony was tacky
- my hair looked terrible
- there is obviously no love in this marriage
. . . . and on and on and on. Now, I’m not sure why someone would go through all the trouble of writing that out . . .maybe they thought we actually cared about their opinion, which of course, couldn’t be farther from the truth. But, I’m not writing to dwell on the postcard . . . I’m just thinking that the individual/s who sent that postcard are probably having a lovely meal of crow today! LOL!
So today we begin the next five years. I’m guessing that we’ll continue to figure out crazy things about each other, we’ll continue to argue about the same-ol’, same-ol’, and we’ll continue to be VERY happy that God caused our paths crossed when they did=)
