Playing with mesh August 9, 2009

Last week, the kids and I were invited to a pool party. As it was DS’s first time in deep pool (i.e. not a wading pool), I figured I would need both hands free to help him out. So I made a pouch out of mesh for carrying DD. When I bought the mesh I thought it would be uncomfortable since it’s somewhat rough, but it actually wasn’t bad at all.
I also had the idea to made DS some soft soled shoes out of mesh so that he could play in the pool and then run around outside without having to switch shoes. Obviously, mesh-bottomed shoes would be an abysmal failure as far as protection while walking. Instead, I used a thick vinyl (a remnant of which I found at Joanns for $0.50!!) for the soles and the mesh for everything else. They were a hit with DS -he wore them around the house for a good piece of time when I first presented them to him – and they worked like a charm.
So the pool party was fun and both the pouch and the shoes worked out just great. I’m just now realizing, though, that I don’t have a pic of the pouch . . .maybe I’ll get one up later.
They are cute!
go girl go!
Is is great that you all had lots of fun at the pool party.
It is important for you and Rick to spend time with the babes.
