Shopping cart cover August 16, 2009

This is my second attempt at a shopping cart cover. The first attempt was an abyssmal failure as it turned out enormous and unweildy. I kept trying to fix it, but it just looked BAD! So I decided to start all over again. I used the same basic pattern both times, but had MUCH better luck the second time. I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I have yet to figure out a way to keep it from shfting around while putting LO’s in, but by and large, it’s functional. As an added bonus, it sports ILLINI colors . . woohoo!

The front

The back (ignore the Blue Bunny ice cream tubs, they were functioning as my make-shift cart!

The bird's eye view
I had trouble with binding the leg holes. Apparently, I still don’t get how to bind an inside corner, it just didn’t work for me. So I didn’t bother with the corners, and it turned out okay, not great, but okay.

I made my own little tie/belt, since the ones in the store are always gross.
And finally, I made a little drawstring bag for storing the cover. Said bag lives in my car so the cover is always on hand.
Cool!
You will get the hang of it.
love you lots!

It is very good that you have time to make all the things you need for the babes.
Have you use the shopping cart cover ? Is it easy to handle?
Storing the cover in the bag will keep it clean!
Keep up the good work.

The cover works pretty well. I especially like the padded seatbelt. It even works as a restaurant cover, in a pinch.
