Back in the saddle May 7, 2011

Last week, I finally got back in the sewing saddle. My sewing room had been done for a few weeks, I just hadn’t gotten around to actually doing anything useful in there. DS needed some new PJ’s, so we went in and made relatively quick work of a new pajama set. He picked out the fabric for the shirt (I guided him a bit so that it sort of matched the pants fabric. Now, when I say picked out fabric, I’m not meaning something new and unused from the fabric store. No, no, I’m the queen of repurposing! So the shirt was crafted from an old shirt of mine, and the pants were made from a man’s button-up shirt. I even managed to use the pocket to create a back pocket and I used the buttons on the waistband, which I thought was a nice design detail. DS, on the other hand, said “I don’t LIKE buttons!” (giant eye roll!) Oh well, he likes them now, even though the shirt turned out a bit wonky, and the pants aren’t perfect. Hey, it’s what happens when I’m trying out a new technique and I’m in a hurry!
I tried to get some good modeling shots, but DS is sleepy and feeling uncooperative, so this is the best I could get=)
Hmmm . . .I guess you can see neither the pocket nor the buttons on the waistband . .alas!
And in other news, I’m going to TRY to get back into the blogging saddle. I sort of fell off of the wagon for a few weeks. Not for lack of ideas, mind you . . . I have many half started posts. Mostly, life has been hectic and exhausting as of late, so blogging has taken a back seat. Plus, I’ve been spending lots of quality time over at TBW (thebabywearer) and reading some of my other fav blogs. But, I’m planning on finishing up lots of posts in the next few days. I’m realizing that it’s totally unrealistic to have a blog post every day, so maybe I’ll aim for 2-3 a week, that seems much more manageable.
Stay tuned for more musings=)
