The Pinterest reviews – stuff for kids January 27, 2012

I have gotten so many great ideas for things to do with the kids from Pinterest. Sadly, I haven’t tried them all out, but here are a few that I’ve tried.

Hot cocoa kit

As I was trying to figure out what to give the in-laws for Christmas, I happened upon this idea. It worked out like a charm. Even the 17-month old was able to get in on the fun. They all LOVED pounding on the candy canes to break them up. Dipping the chocolate was a bit messier, but still somewhat toddler friendly. I had the 4-year old write the labels. Actually, DH helped with that part, and apparently the 3 year old did a bit of writing, too. This is definitely something I’ll be trying again.

DIY water colors

I have to say, this was an utter FAIL! The colors never dried, even though I left them out for a couple of days. I ended up using a paper towel to soak up the extra liquid, and then the kids were able to use the paint. But it was VERY messy, much moreso than regular water colors. I can’t say that I’ll be doing this again. It was a nice idea, oh well.

Table-top easels

The kids and I made these a few months ago. It was quite fun getting everything made up. As with most projects for kids, they used them for a week or two, and now they are languishing away in the bookshelf. You can read about how we did our version here
