Rubber July 12, 2012

My arms and legs feel like rubber. I just swam laps for the first time in probably 8 years. Well, I should amend that. I swam two long laps and two shorter laps, with LOTS of rest in between. Seriously, I thought my arms were going to fall off and my heart was going to pound out of my chest! Clearly, I”m waaayyyy out of shape! But that’s why I decided to start swimming again. I’m getting tired of feeling blechy and watching the scale go up and up. The scale is supposed to be going up (if it weren’t the midwife would probably complain), but it’s going up too, too much! So, even though it seems like a not-so-good idea to pick up lap swimming after an 8 year hiatus and being 7 months preggo, I’m doing it anyway. I think it will be good for me. It will get me up in the morning, it will get me into better shape and the plan is to be MUCH healthier by the time this newest little one arrives.

My plan is to stick to the 4 laps for about a week, and then add a lap every other day after that. I’m thinking it won’t take me too long to get back into the groove. In fact, by the 3rd lap, I was starting to find my stride again, and I REALLY wanted to do a bunch more. But, in the interest of actually being able to move tomorrow, I limited myself. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow, I’ll likely be crazy sore! That’s a good thing, though!
